Important technical and social trends are influencing technology providers, hosting industry and merchants. How companies can adopt was discussed on ePages’ Commerce Summit, the first e-commerce conference with focus on small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Europe.
Two of the main drivers for future returns in commerce is the convergence of online and offline as well as the shift to cloud services. In order to benefit from these changes companies are forced to open up for Social-Local-Mobile trends as well as multi-channel concepts, same-day-delivery and new techniques such as in-store touch devices.
ePages, leading provider of cloud-based online shops, has been a pioneer in e-commerce for 25 years and organized the conference on the occasion of its anniversary. This website allows to discover some of the event’s highlights.
The Story behind
In August 1987, the founders of ePages started out with a mission of creating business applications with a human touch. Right from the start the apps were designed with three breakthrough innovations at that time:
- a graphical user interface for non technical users
- an open, object oriented software architecture
- the ability to run on the internet
25 years later those design decisions are still at the core of everything that we’re doing. The emphasis on the human interface and the spirit of adopting innovations to make them available to small businesses is still pushing us forward.
On the occasion of our 25th year of existence in August 2012 we invited an exclusive group of partners, customers and industry experts to a 2-day conference. The Commerce Summit was the first European eCommerce conference solely focusing on small and medium sized businesses. All of ePages’ staff members from around the world gathered in Hamburg not only to join the Commerce Summit but also to learn from each other in the yearly team event.
